I'm Rebecca St. Pierre, a Canadian writer, poet, nature photographer, and digital composite artist.

I focus on capturing nature, beauty and emotions in words and pixels.

I bonded with books at a young age, particularly Nancy Drew mysteries and  Rupert Bear. The years passed and I became fascinated with art and science, particularly drawing, rocks, and wildlife. I still cannot resist a lovely sedimentary stone.

I have always been passionately dedicated to protecting wild animals and the environment. What I did not foresee is that my love of the arts and all things scientific would ultimately develop into not one but two careers.

In 2008, I abandoned a science career of test tubes and beakers to start a freelance writing and photography business: Word Flight and Light.

I've written for children, foodies, scientists and wildlife lovers. My photos are on traffic signal boxes, have been published in many magazines and also juried into exhibitions at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.

Composite photography is my new love. My imagination has the freedom to create surreal scenes from the photos I've taken over the past 15 years to encourage reflection on the natural world.

When I’m not writing, taking photos, or creating art, there’s a good chance you’ll find me reading a mystery novel or hiking in Pinery Provincial Park.

On both sides of the lens...

Slow shutter speed capture of ripples on a lake showing blurred horizontal lines of white and dark and light blue.
